The Sanctuary – The Hills Women’s Shelter
The Sanctuary, The Hills Women’s Shelter aims to provide temporary supported accommodation for women and their children in times of crisis.
Our aim it to provide a safe, non-threatening environment for women that will assist them through their emotional and physical crisis, as a result of homelessness and/or domestic violence.
The Sanctuary has a client centred approach to collaborative case management. We have a manager plus case workers and is staffed 24/7. We also have a child focused worker specialising in childhood trauma and it’s effects.
Our shelter is unique in that the property was provided by and renovated to a high standard by QIC (Queensland Investment Corporation), the owners of Castle Towers. There is strong community support for the work of the shelter, including the provision of climbing equipment by Castle Hill RSL Group.
Since opening our doors in April 2016, we have provided safety and support to over 35 women and 65 children.”
