Chef Sebastian Tan from JINJA shines at the 4th World Master Chefs Competition for Cantonese Cuisine, clinching the prestigious Gold Medal!
Culinary virtuoso Chef Sebastian Tan of JINJA has emerged victorious, securing the coveted Gold Medal at the highly esteemed 4th World Master Chefs Competition for Cantonese Cuisine. The event witnessed a gathering of 63 teams, each composed of a chef and an assistant, representing 30 nations. The distinguished panel of judges, comprised of 12 master chefs from around the globe, attested to the unparalleled skills and artistry on display.
Over two days of fierce competition, encompassing seven rounds and four enthralling cooking demonstrations, Chef Sebastian Tan’s expertise and creativity shone through.
Among Chef Tan’s exceptional creations were the meticulously crafted Crispy Wings Wrapped in Wild Sea Cucumber, complemented by a Sweet & Sour Numbing Jus. This innovative dish showcased his ability to blend unique flavours and textures into a harmonious culinary masterpiece.
Additionally, Chef Tan presented a stunning Cod Fish with Tiger Prawn Ginger Flower Sauce, a dish that perfectly balanced the delicate flavours of the seafood with the aromatic essence of ginger flower. This creation exemplified Chef Tan’s skill in bringing out the natural essence of each ingredient while incorporating his signature touch.
The competition’s scoring system, based on stringent evaluation criteria, saw the top 20% of teams awarded prestigious Gold Medals, a testament to their exceptional performance. Additionally, the subsequent 30% secured Silver Medals, while the remaining teams were recognised with Bronze Medals.
In a remarkable feat, Chef Sebastian Tan’s culinary mastery and unwavering dedication earned him the illustrious Gold Medal. This achievement not only reflects his exceptional skills but also reinforces his status as a trailblazer in the world of Cantonese cuisine.
