Meet our Chef

 

At the helm, is The Hills finest wood-fire chef, Alessandro Benini. All the way from Livorno, Toscana Italy, a region renowned for its wine and food, Alessandro grew up cooking with his Nonna and Mamma which made him realise his passion for Italian cuisine and the magic art of pizza making.

After learning from the best in Napoli, Alessandro travelled to Australia to find a place he could share his passion and give people an authentic Italian experience. Using special techniques and most importantly the right ingredients including flour from Napoli, San Marzano tomatoes, quality cheese and simple authentic toppings, “I have created authentic woodfire pizza recipes that I truly believe paired with our antipasti offering will take people on a delicious journey. Mammamia che bonta’!”

Designed to share to get the best of everything, La Stella’s menu offers authentic woodfired pizzas hand stretched using a tomato base made from the finest imported Italian tomatoes. The traditional Napoli pizzas are then cooked in our signature wood fired Stefano Ferrara Forni oven. The antipasti small plates feature Italian grazing favourites specially designed to be paired with our wood fired pizzas and give an authentic Italian experience.
